JERRY BUNN SCHOLARSHIP

First Lieutenant Jerry Arthur Bunn was born June 24, 1942, the son of Arthur and Naomi Bunn.  He was killed in action July 16, 1969, while serving in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam.  Jerry was a graduate of Muscatine High School.  In 1967 he graduated from Sioux Falls College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with a degree in Business Administration.  He was married and had one daughter, Mistine Marie.

Jerry was very active in Mulford Church.  He grew up in the Sunday School, starting as a very young boy.  When BMA (Bible Memory Association) was started at Mulford, he began learning Bible verses and continued throughout the years.  He went to the BMA camps in Louisiana and was a helper at the camps.

Jerry became a member of Mulford Church by confession of faith in the Lord on October 10, 1954.  In a letter received by the family after his death, Jerry told of the chaplain in Viet Nam having a meeting and serving communion the day before Jerry's death.

After his death, a scholarship was started by his parents.  Each year one or more scholarships are given to Mulford young people to further their education by attending college.

The Scholarship Committee has the express desire of continuing the example of the faith and life of Jerry Bunn in quality Christian young people who are associated with Mulford Evangelical Free Church.

The Scholarship Committee consists of Art and Naomi Bunn, Eddie Bartelt, Linda Chapman, Pastor Jerry Foote, and Don Gesell.

The committee realizes that many fine young men and women choose a school as the place they feel God has led them to be educated. The committee wishes God's best for them and encourages each student to grow in faith during their college experience, integrating their learning with the Bible.

The amount of the award and the number of awards granted may vary each year according to the decision of the committee.  Donations to the "Jerry Bunn Scholarship Fund" are accepted at all times and a special offering is taken each year on the Sunday closest to Jerry's birthday of June 24th.
