1857: Joseph Bennett, a deacon in the First Congregational Church of Muscatine, a man who loved the Lord and had a passion for the souls of boys and girls in this south end of town, had a vision, and started a Sunday School. He began his labor of love for the Lord in a little shed located at the corner site on Green Street and Hershey Avenue.
