Mulford Community Garden & Free Produce Stand
COMMUNITY WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE
You do not need to be affiliated with Mulford Church to garden with us.
The Garden is now Closed for the season. Please check back in March, 2019.
Please mail your completed Application Form to the Mulford Church Office, 2400 Hershey Avenue, Muscatine, IA 52761 to reserve your garden plot. Applications are being accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The Mulford Community Garden's mission is to provide an area for individuals or families to grow their own small gardens, allowing them to reap a harvest of fresh produce while creating an atmosphere for growers to experience "community" with each other. The garden experience adds fresh vegetables to individual nutrition needs and helps stretch tight grocery budgets that may not allow for the purchase of fresh vegetables, as well as adding to the self-worth of the growers as they experience the accomplishment first-hand of a bountiful harvest in return for their hard work.
We welcome community participation and we are part of the Muscatine Blue Zone Program to help promote healthy living.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or would like to be a part of the garden outreach, please call the church office at 563.263.7489, and leave a message for Fred Levinson, Garden Chair. Fred will call you back as soon as he is able.
When you start spring cleaning, please remember that the Mulford Garden would appreciate donations of any gently-used tools, especially garden trowels and hoes.
We invite our neighbors to plant a little extra for sharing at the weekly summer free Produce Stand in the Mulford parking lot. Just drop off your excess produce, or fruit from trees in your yard, on Saturday mornings, about 9:00 a.m. The Produce Stand opens when there is enough of a yield to begin to share with our neighbors. Many of those that come for the free produce are not able to garden.
